Hi, I'm Sera Eden

This is the stuff I wish someone had handed me years ago. Gut health, nervous system regulation, strength training, written the way I'd actually explain it to you.

Elsewhere

“The nervous system has to feel safe first. Everything else, the mindset, the abundance, the energy, follows. Not the other way around.”

I am writing this from a screened in porch surrounded by water on three sides.

My grandparents bought this cabin in their thirties. Two teachers from Boston who did not have much money but had the extraordinary wisdom to find themselves a piece of land on a lake in New Hampshire and come back to it every single summer of their lives.

It is one room. Rustic. No insulation except for walls lined with books from the 1920s through the 1940s. One tiny bedroom. A loft with a ladder where my sister and I slept every summer of our childhood, flew here alone from Ohio, and felt like we were living in the best fort in the world.

My grandparents are gone now. But I come back every year.

This morning I did not look at my phone. I drank my water, poured my coffee, and walked out to the point. The loons were calling across the lake. The wind moved through the pines. The sun hit my face and I just sat there and thought: what a beautiful morning. And for the first time in a long time my nervous system actually believed it.

I have been tired.

Not the kind of tired that sleep fixes, though more sleep has helped. The kind of tired that comes from being on for too long. From pushing and producing and showing up and posting and building and trying and doing all of it while also just being a human woman with a body that has its own needs and its own wisdom and its own very clear signals about when enough is enough.

I grew up watching my mom work constantly and still never have enough. She was raised by a single mother with three kids and that was the model she inherited: work hard, struggle anyway, keep going. I absorbed that blueprint in my body long before I understood it in my mind. And for most of my adult life I have been running a quiet background program that says: you have to push to survive, rest is a luxury you have not earned yet, and there will never quite be enough.

I have manifested incredible love. Extraordinary friendships. Experiences that have taken my breath away. In so many ways my life is more beautiful than I ever dared to hope for.

But the money piece. That one is still wound tight.

And what I understand now, sitting on this point with the loons calling and the sun on my face, is that it is not a strategy problem. It is not a marketing problem. It is not even a mindset problem, though the mindset reflects it.

It is a nervous system problem.

The body carries what the mind has inherited. And until the nervous system feels safe, genuinely safe at a cellular level, the subconscious block does not move no matter how much you know about it logically.

That is what I am here for this week. Not to fix it. Just to let it rest. To let my system remember what safe feels like so I can build from that instead of from bracing.

And that is exactly what the Virgo New Moon is asking of all of us.

Eclipse season just closed. We have been in the fire for two months. And Virgo, practical, grounded, devoted, organized Virgo, is here to help us make sense of everything that came up and create the conditions for what comes next.

Not through force. Through tending.

My grandparents cabin is insulated with old books/

::MANIFEST WITH THE MOON::

Virgo New Moon: The Reset After the Storm

Virgo is the sign of the body. Of ritual. Of the small daily acts that compound into transformation over time. Of organization not as a productivity hack but as a form of self-respect. Of devotion to the details that make a life feel livable.

This new moon arrives as the first lunation since eclipse season and it feels like exhaling after holding your breath for two months.

Mercury rules this lunation, which means clarity is available. Things that felt murky during the eclipse portal can finally be named, organized, communicated. The fog lifts. You can see what you are actually working with now.

Mars is also activating this new moon, which means the energy to actually move on what you have figured out is there. Not the frantic push energy of summer. The clean, clear, I-know-what-needs-to-happen energy of someone who has done the inner work and is ready to act from a grounded place.

And Venus is entering Scorpio, beginning a long journey through themes of intimacy, values, self-worth, and depth. For the next several months, the question underneath everything will be: do I actually believe I am worth what I am asking for? In love, in business, in how I treat myself on a random Tuesday?

Here is what I want you to sit with for this new moon.

How organized is your inner world right now?

Not your calendar. Not your inbox. Your inner world. Your thoughts, your nervous system, your relationship with rest, your inherited beliefs about what you are allowed to have.

Because Virgo does not just want you to organize your desk. Virgo wants you to organize your life so that there is actual spaciousness in it. Room to breathe. Room to create. Room to feel like a human being rather than a productivity machine.

And here is the thing about spaciousness that most people miss: it is not something you find when everything is done. It is something you build on purpose before everything is done. Because everything is never done.

The nervous system has to feel safe first. The clarity follows. The energy follows. The abundance follows. Not the other way around.

This is not a soft idea. It is physiology.

A nervous system running in chronic low-grade stress, which is most of us most of the time, keeps cortisol elevated, disrupts sleep, blunts digestion, stalls fat loss, tanks libido, and creates a persistent background hum of not enough time, not enough money, not enough energy, not enough me.

The solution is not to push harder through it. The solution is to create enough safety in the system that it can finally downregulate.

That is what this new moon is for. That is what the next two weeks are for.

How relaxed can you be while doing something you do not love? How much joy can you find in the small moments between everything? How much of your exhaustion is the work itself and how much is the story you are carrying about the work?

Those are the Virgo questions. Small, precise, honest, and completely transformative if you actually sit with them.

::RITUAL ALCHEMY::

Ritual is the repeatable act. The thing you do again tomorrow.
Alchemy is the inner shift it creates. The moment the body begins to believe a new story is safe.

New moon intentions are seeds. Virgo seeds specifically need organization, attention to detail, and consistent daily tending. They do not grow from grand gestures. They grow from small acts, repeated with devotion.

Journal Prompts:

✦ What has eclipse season surfaced that I now need to organize, name, or release? What am I finally ready to look at clearly?
✦ Where in my life do I have no spaciousness? What is filling every gap and is that filling intentional or habitual?
✦ What inherited belief about work, money, rest, or worth am I still running as a background program? Where did I learn it and is it actually mine?
✦ How relaxed can I be while doing something I do not love? What would bring even 10% more ease to the parts of my life that feel heavy?
✦ What small daily ritual, if protected fiercely, would change how I feel about everything else?

One of mine: I am planting the intention to build more mornings like this one into my real life. Not just at the cabin. At home. Before the phone. Before the list. Before the day asks anything of me. Ten minutes on my own point, whatever that looks like in Denver, before I give myself to anything else.

Intention Setting:

Virgo intentions are specific. Vague intentions dissolve in Virgo season. The universe responds to precision here.

Instead of “I want more rest” write “I protect the first thirty minutes of every morning for myself before I look at my phone.”

Instead of “I want to feel less exhausted” write “I build one true moment of spaciousness into every single day.”

Write yours with that level of specificity. Then put it somewhere you will see it every morning for the next two weeks.

Somatic Practice: The Organizing Breath

This practice is for when the mind is busy and the body needs a way back to ground.

✦ Sit comfortably with your feet flat on the floor.
✦ Place one hand on your belly and one on your heart.
✦ Inhale for 4 counts, breathing into your belly first, then your chest.
✦ Hold for 4 counts at the top.
✦ Exhale for 6 counts, slow and complete.
✦ At the bottom of the exhale, pause for 2 counts before inhaling again.

This is box breathing with an extended exhale. The longer exhale activates the vagus nerve and signals the parasympathetic nervous system to downregulate. The pause at the bottom of the exhale is where the regulation actually lands. Do not skip it.

Repeat 6 times. Notice what shifts.

The nervous system does not need you to have everything figured out to feel safe. It just needs one moment of genuine exhale. Give it that first.

::SEASONAL RECIPE::

Anti-Inflammatory Harvest Bowl
What I am eating at the cabin and bringing home to September

This is the bowl I make when I am transitioning seasons and want to support my body through the shift. I am pausing gluten, non-fermented dairy, and most grains for the next month or two, not as punishment but as a gift, the same protocol I guide my clients through in Metamorphosis and the one that consistently brings my gut back to baseline, builds muscle, and drives fat loss without making me feel deprived.

This bowl is everything I want right now. Warm, grounding, anti-inflammatory, and deeply satisfying.

Ingredients (serves 2):

✦ 2 cups roasted sweet potato, cubed
✦ 2 cups roasted cauliflower florets
✦ 1 cup cooked lentils (French green or beluga)
✦ 2 big handfuls of arugula or massaged kale
✦ 1 avocado, sliced
✦ 2 to 4 soft boiled or fried eggs or 4 to 6 oz grilled salmon or chicken
✦ 2 tbsp pumpkin seeds or hemp hearts
✦ Fresh lemon juice, good olive oil, salt and pepper generously

For the tahini drizzle:
✦ 2 tbsp tahini
✦ Juice of 1 lemon
✦ 1 small clove garlic, grated
✦ Water to thin
✦ Salt to taste

Whisk together and drizzle over everything.

Why this works:

Sweet potato provides complex carbohydrates with fiber for slow glucose release, potassium for adrenal support, and beta-carotene which converts to vitamin A for gut lining integrity. Cauliflower is a cruciferous vegetable that supports liver detoxification pathways, critical when we are asking the body to clear excess estrogen and inflammatory compounds. Lentils provide plant protein, iron, and folate alongside prebiotic fiber that feeds the gut microbiome. Arugula is bitter, which stimulates bile flow and digestion. Eggs or salmon provide complete protein and omega-3 fatty acids to support the anti-inflammatory shift we are building. Pumpkin seeds deliver zinc and magnesium, two minerals most women in the 35+ window are depleted in and that directly affect sleep, hormone balance, and stress response. Tahini adds calcium and additional healthy fat to slow digestion and support hormone production.

This bowl is a complete meal that covers multiple nutritional bases without requiring a lot of effort. That is the Virgo new moon in food form. Simple, precise, deeply nourishing.

::FOUNDATIONS::

Spotlight: Running and the Cortisol Question

I want to address something I get asked about often, especially as we move into fall training season.

I run three miles every morning here at the cabin. I am training for a half marathon. And I know that for many women over 35 running daily, especially at higher intensities, can raise cortisol meaningfully and work against the very fat loss and nervous system regulation they are trying to achieve.

So why am I doing it?

Because context matters in functional nutrition. Always.

High cortisol from running is a concern when your baseline cortisol is already elevated, when your nervous system is already dysregulated, when you are under-eating, under-sleeping, and over-stressed. For a woman in that state, daily running is gasoline on a fire.

But low cortisol, which can happen after prolonged chronic stress, looks completely different. Fatigue that sleep does not fix. Difficulty getting going in the morning. Low motivation. A body that feels flat rather than wired. For a woman in that state, strategic movement that generates a healthy cortisol response can actually be therapeutic.

The answer is never the same for every woman. It is always: what is this specific body doing, and what does it actually need right now?

This is why I start with foundations before I prescribe anything. This is why the Rhythm Mapping Call exists. And this is why I am building a protocol for myself right now that includes running, daily yoga, strength training, and the most consistent sleep I have had in months.

Know your body before you follow anyone else’s protocol. Including mine.

::WAYS TO WORK TOGETHER::

I have something honest to share.

Metamorphosis did not launch on September 10 as planned. I made the decision to postpone it because I wanted the group experience to be what it deserves to be, a room full of women who are truly ready, doing this together, not a handful of people in a container that needed more time and better messaging to fill.

That decision brought relief and disappointment in equal measure. I am sitting with both.

What I know is this. The program is ready. The curriculum is updated, the fitness plan is the most progressive and thoughtful I have ever built, and I am personally doing this protocol starting now. I am pausing gluten, non-fermented dairy, and most grains. I am recommitting to my strength training and running plan. I am doing the nervous system work alongside the physical work because you cannot separate them and get real results. I know what nine weeks of this does to a body and I cannot wait to do it with a group of women who are ready.

The next round of Metamorphosis starts January 7. A whole body reset at the cellular level to begin the new year. My goal is fifteen women who are done waiting and ready to build.

If that is you, or if you know someone who could be a good fit, I want to hear from you now and I humbly ask that you let them know.

Reply to this email and tell me you are interested. Tell me where you are in your body right now. Tell me what you have been carrying that you are ready to put down.

The women who say yes before the doors officially open will get the best price and the most personal attention. This is me, building the room around the women who are already ready.

The new RitualFit website is live at ritualfit.org. Take a look around when you are ready. As of next week I am updating the messaging of the Metamorphosis page to better reflect what I am actually offering including giving it a new subtitle. Thinking something like: Metamorphosis: A Nine-Week Ritual Alchemy Protocol for Whole-Body Transformation. But even that sounds too sterile!

And if you want to talk through where you are and what you need, book a free Rhythm Mapping Call. No pitch. No pressure. Just a real conversation.

My grandmother used to sit on this same point.

I did not know her as a young woman. By the time I came along she was already a grandmother, soft and steady and full of the particular kind of peace that comes from a life well lived. But I think about her here often. About what she was building in her thirties when she and my grandfather found this land. About what it meant to have a place to return to. About the quiet wisdom of knowing you need somewhere to be unbothered and just let yourself be.

I am forty three years old sitting on her bench drinking coffee from her loon mug on her point listening to the same loons she heard.

And I am so grateful for this inheritance. Not the cabin, though I love it fiercely. The understanding that spaciousness is not a reward for finishing. It is the thing that makes finishing possible.

Build your point. Find your loons. Protect the morning before the world asks anything of you.

The Virgo new moon is here. The reset is real. And you are right on time.

With so much love from the lake,

Sera
